The Agri Missouri announced the 2011 Champion of the Year at the Fair Grove Farmers' Market. On June 29Th at 3:30pm.
This award is for someone or a couple that has gone above and beyond, and who has made a positive impact on your market
Larry and Josephine Dowell has won this award!
The Fair Grove Farmers' Market has a growing with Kids Club, we have 345 kids in the Club, each week the kids come to our Market for 6 weeks and get free plants or Seeds to grow there own garden.For 7 years we have had the privilege of having 2 Master Gardeners at our market that set up and hand out the plants or seeds and gives them advice on how to grow there own garden. They are a retired couple that donate there time every week for this award winning kids club.Larry Dowell is a Retired Dr. and his wife Josephine is a retired nurse. This year they will be awarded Champion of the Year from the MFA and The Agri Mo for the State of MO.
We have a special vendor Cloe Gertner that is 7 years old that will be selling her fresh basil she has grown herself. Chloe is a member of the Growing with kids club. She has been a member for 4 years.From the advice and encouragement from The Dowells Chloe has learned how to grow her own garden, at 7 years old.And know she will be learning the business skills of selling her own produce. How to be self productive in this day and age at a early age is so important.Our Market strives on our Children.The Dowells have gone above and beyond and have made a positive impact to The Fair Grove Farmers' Market and to the community.To help raise awareness of the importance of Eating Healthy food and to be self producing.And to strive to the parents the importance of not raising a couch potato but to teach kids to raise a real potato from there own garden. And how 2 people can make a difference in our children's life Like the Dowells.


Shane Schoeller our 139 State Rep and pro team speaker presented the Dowells with a House Resolution.

Barb Pate a registered nurse and one of our Market Vendors took blood pressure and talked to the customers on the best way to help lower your blood pressure with healthy eating habits.

The Agri Mo had a table set up at our Market that day all so for the 10,000 Garden Challenge
